Hi all,

I need a new phone and am thinking about eliminating my mp3 player at the same time. Price doesn't matter but I don't want to pay for things I don't need.

Here's what I want/need in a phone:GSM (I'll buy an unlocked phone)I mostly listen to podcasts on my mp3 player so it has to restart a previously stopped playback at the same place.I don't care about the style (slider, bar etc.) but would like a decent sized screen and as small in the pocket as possiblea speakerphoneFM radioUSBbluetooth A2DP and a wireless headset sounds like a great idea but what happens to FM reception without wires?decent battery life, I listen to my mp3 player for about 1.5 hours a dayvoice dialing would be nice but I haven't had a phone that did this well since the mid 90s

Things I don't need. I realize I'll end up with some or all of these options but they're not part of my decision:camerastorage space bigger than 512internet
I've been searching without results for a couple days now for some of these answers. Any help, especially in resuming podcasts, is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

No wires usually = no FM reception...the wires are used as an antenna.

I've been using my Nokia N75 to listen to podcasts...the sync software allows for folder sync, so I have my podcatcher just download to the sync folder and they get auto-transferred over to the phone. That'll work with any Nokia S60 phone, which includes the 5700, any N-series, and the 6210 Classic (I think that's the correct model number?).

Look for a Nokia with MiniUSB connection (some still use PopPort), using Symbian S60v3 (FeaturePack1 would be VERY preferable) and A2DP if you really want it. There should be several, most take MicroSD cards (there's your bigger than 512 MB) and whatever form factor and price point you prefer. Careful: not all of them have A2DP or MiniUSB...the N75 that i have uses PopPort instead of MiniUSB, and only the unlocked version has A2DP (I got the Cingular branded one, but it was REAL cheap with contract).

The S60 audio player won't resume where you stop, but you can pause playback and switch to another application while leaving the audio player open, thereby allowing you to resume where you left off. Not quite as good, but I don't know of any phone-based MP3 players that will pick up in the middle after the player program has been shut down and restarted.

Thanks for the info npaladin2000 and sorry for the late response.

I think pause playback and switch to another app should work fine for me.

Thanks again.
