best carpet pre-treater?

I've tried so many stain removers but none of them do anything. I'm gonna rent a rug doctor and I was wondering if there is anything on the market that actually works as a pre-treater for stains?

Depends on what the stain is. For most of the stains I get on my carpet, Simple Green does a good job. Heck, I even shampoo with the Simple Green. It does a good job, non-toxic, biodegradable, much cheaper and it smells nice without being overpowering. There is a section on their web site that tells you how much to use.

One drawback is that you must rinse well with plain water. Otherwise, you get a bit of a soapy film that attracts dirt. I usually pre treat the stains, let that soak at least 1/2 hour and then shampoo.

For ink, I use either laundry pre treat (Shout) or Oops!, a product made for taking paint splatters off. The Oops! also works well on those red or orange drink stains but you have to get at those while they are fresh.

And for pet stains, I use Odo ban. That is enzyme and plant based so it gets to the root of the problem. But you have to give the product time.
