"Best Buy Theatre in, Nokia out"

[Competely rabroad]:

"Nils" is a perfectly correctly spelled name - in Norwegian. In Danish, true, it is usually "Niels".

Finnish is, of course, a completely different beast altogether. The linguistic roots of English and Arabic are closer to each other than those of Finnish versus the other Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish).

A couple of stereotypical Finnish names might be Pekka and Toivonen.

Pekka came home to his little village from the "Winter War" - i.e. the war against the Soviet Union during WWII. He was interviewed for the local paper. The journalist, Toivonen, asked him:
- What was the first thing you did when you got home?
- Made love to my wife.
- Ahmm.. well.. what was the second thing you did when you got home?
- Made more love to my wife.
- I see. What was the first thing you did after you had made love to your wife?
Pekka thinks for a while, and replies:
- Oh I remember, that's when I took off my skis.

To be picky. Finland is not really a Scandinavian country, Scandinavia is really just Sweden, Norway and Denmark although many people tend to include Finland mainly because it has had such long relation with Sweden with fairly large minorities of both Swedes and Finns living in Finland and Sweden. Finland is however a Nordic country. In Sweden it is spelled Nils as well.
