I'm after a good biopic movie/drama on some famous people. I've seen 'Sylvia' and am currently getting 'me and my shadows- Judy Garland'. What's the best biopics you've seen?

I also liked 'fantabulousa' on Kenneth Williams life..that was sad :(

My favourite biopic is 'American Splendor' on the life of the late Harvey Pekar. (He was still alive when it was made as he appears in the film!)

Ray and also possibly the best acting performance I've ever seen in my life by Jamie Foxx. I actually forgot at times I wasn't really watching Ray Charles, he was that good.

Cinderella Man: about James Braddock, a boxer, good for history as it is set at the time of the American depression, and also A Beautiful Mind about John Nash a mathematician, amazing films.

Both starring Russell Crowe

'The Rat Pack', a 1998 TV moive, with Ray Liota as Frank Sinatra, Joe Mantegna as Dean Martin, and a quite brilliant performance from Don Cheadle as Sammy David Jr. It's a good little film. Worth watching for Cheadle alone, in my opinion.

My personal favourites...

Milk (Harvey Milk)
Walk the Line (Johnny Cash)
Backbeat (Stuart Sutcliffe)
Factory Girl (Edie Sedgwick)
Private Parts (Howard Stern)
What's Love Got to Do With It? (Tina Turner)
Sid & Nancy (Sid Vicious/Nancy Spungen)
Raging Bull (Jake La Motta)
Gia (Gia Carangi)
