So hendrixthecat has come up with some interesting threaRAB, and I'd like to add this one to the mix.

Lelouch
"Those who kill should be prepared to be killed." Lelouch is no hypocrite. He takes over the world, only to free it by ordering his own death.
Bravo.

Legato
You hate him, but don't want Vash to compromise his ideals by killing him. When Vash is forced to finally do it, you don't feel sad for the victim, but for the murderer.
Eerily beautiful.

Diva
Diva dies, but Saya doesn't. This is because Diva's blood was weakened from her pregnancy.
I loved this twist.

Makoto
Nice boat.
Nice boat.
Lust
Mustang gives her a small taste of Hell before sending her there. A hot woman killed in a borage of hot flames.
It's very fitting.

Tomoe
A quite predictable death, I thought, but the impact is nevertheless enormous. It also justifies Kenshin's staunch pacifism for the entire regular anime. It's not just a simple matter of "the good guy doesn't kill people cause he's the good guy." It's something much more profound than that, and you can really feel it after witnessing Tomoe's death.

Alphard... almost!
Alphard's "almost death" was epic. I say "almost" because they ruined it by having her live. And they did so to give us some lame open ending cause they want to continue the series. Lame!
Had Alphard died, this definitely would have been near the top of any list.
