I need to be tested to see how I can cure my constant cough (which always feels built up in my throat) and always-congested nose that I can barely breathe through, but in the meantime, it would really help to try a good allergy medicine for moderate to severe allergies. I've tried a few different branRAB, but I'm wondering what you guys think is the best, or at least what do you use that really has a noticeable difference for moderate to severe allergies?

I used to use that as a kid and it slightly helped. I'll try it again now, thanks.

Of the OTC branRAB, I prefer Zyrtec. I have had luck with Allegra for prescription. I also have luck with Flonase and Astelin nasal sprays as well, but they are prescription.

For over the counter, I use Claritin D. I'll take Zyrtec D if I don't have any Claritin D available, but for me it isn't as good a match. I would give it a try though since it works for many people. I recently tried Benadryl D and it did nothing for me! I also don't recommend it because it will make you drowsy, and the other two should not.

I notice a huge difference with geting the "D" kind because I need that decongestant. I get a lot of sinus pressure. Of course you have to order these at the pharmacy counter, but it's not a big hassle.

I don't commonly get a cough with my allergies, but I did have a constant nagging cough as a child that was from asthma. I don't need to use any asthma medication anymore as it has improved so much with years, but I watch out for it just in case. It could be from post-nasal drip for you though since you mentioned that your nose is congested.

Claritin D does wonders for me, but I still have a lot of sinus pressure, which makes me feel off balance and drunk a lot of the time. It's frustrating, and I do want to look into a prescription for this. If I stop taking the Claritin D, I get the other typical allergy symptoms (sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, runny or stuffy nose, etc) and much more sinus pressure. Right now it keeps me going and keeps my allergies tolerable!

I don't know what one would consider my allergies on a scale from minor to severe, but when they are enough to really affect your life, then that's enough to definitely find something to help treat them. I have trouble waking up every day and never feel well rested, and the dizziness really gets me, so that's enough to make me motivated to kick this! Plus, they are not seasonal and last year-round. I'm sure it's something in the area I live (well, the whole city actually- btw I am in Texas), because earlier when I traveled to California for work, I felt AMAZING and it was such a good feeling... I felt like a new person honestly!

Best of luck to you and I hope you find something that helps!
