Best Acne Medication

I am 50 years old and still get occasional breakouts. Which Active Ingredient is better to use Salicylic Acide or Benzoyl Peroxide on your face? I normally have oily skin, but in the winter when I first wash my face it is dry and then as the day goes on it gets oiler.
