I am really wanting to quit Bell internet and homephone.. and yet remain with Bell TV (mostly because of all the hardware I have bought, and I generally think my HD PVR is the best one in the Canadian Market).

Bell of course won't treat an existing customer with respect and refuses to give me the prices they offer new customers. So I have had it..

except for the whole.. having the phone plugged in requirement. Primus offers a Voip package I am interested in - especially since I never use my homephone- and I wonder if it works well enough to keep Ma Bell happy... It regularly connects and all of that ?

I don't want to sign a contract to use Voip and then have Bell go nuts against me...

If you only have the one receiver, then I would doubt that Bell TV would force you to have the phone line connected. Yes it is a part of teh Customer Service Agreement but if you tell them you do not have a landline, they will not terminate your servcie.

If you still want to order PPV events and movies, just create a log-in and password at the Bell website, then you can order through there.

I know lots of people with VOIP and none of them even considered connecting anything to teh Bell Receivers.

I have Bell TV and Primus Talk Broadband. My HD 9242 reciever is connected to the Primus VOIP line and works no problem.

Bell has never ask if or what type of telco my receivers are hooked up to. It's none of their busniess.

Good Luck
Bill

I am at the max with receivers.. or almost.. Only one box, my main HD PVR I plug in to the phone line.

I just expect some sort of hassle as I am planning on dropping 2/3rds of my services with them. With most past dealings I expect them to try and pull something saying Voip is not acceptable..

Thanks !

It's no big deal, I am at the max of 6 receivers and I get a phone call once a year to verify them all being in my house. Takes 5 or 6 minutes and away they go for another year.

Don't panic over what might happen. You are simply cancelling *some* services. What's the big deal? Bell won't "go nuts" over this. They may offer you some incentives to stay, maybe not. That's it. Releax, call and cancel what you want. The phone line "requirement" is not a big deal.

I have had Bell TV for about 8 months now, i have 3 receivers and none of them are connected to a phone line. Bell never called or asked for anything.

I'd say go ahead with your VOIP. It should work anyway with your Bell TV Receivers, and even if it doesn't, it should not change anything !

Agreed, Bell TV won't give you any hassles. I know many people who only have cell phones that don't have their Bell receivers plugged in.
