Bell service for a Rogers (Canada) Treo650?

I have a Treo 650 phone that was with Rogers Canada, now I'm looking to hook it up to a new Bell Canada plan...

Can it be done?

What is involved?

The Treo has a SIM slot, but no SIM right now, I've heard I need a special SIM...
What is the technical explanation of what makes the SIM special?
