Bell Remote (Eats Batteries)

I actually thought that was happening to me...but I reset the antenae on the receiver...and now everything is fine.
 
I got the same problem with my Remote #2 (UHF). Remote #1 is fine. The batteries in remote #2 last about a month or two and that is with using it about once or twice a week.
 
Our Bell ExpressVu remote eats batteries like they are going out of style to the tune of 4 AAA's per week. I did a search, and was unable to find out if this is a common problem. We have the HD PVR box that runs 2 TV's. Please help!
 
So my remotes are off warranty I guess, so now I gotta buy a new remote I guess.

dm 4u - What do you mean you reset the antena and the problem went away?
 
Warranty lasts 12 months, so you should be well within warranty, back in November you said it was only 3 months old.

Call Bell, they should send out a replacement within 5 days.
 
Warranty for the remotes is only 3 months.....for the actual PVR box it is 12 months.
 
No idea. I have had the same batteries in both our 9242 remotes for almost a year and they are fine.

You either have problematic batteries or a faulty remote.

Are you using rechargeables or mixing batteries?
 
I have exactly the same problem with the remote number 2.

Can somebody help us?

Everything worked fine for the first 8 months, but it started to eat 3 months ago.
I bought rechargeable batteries,but still, if there's a solution , Ill take it.
 
WHAT.!

That is ridiculous.

Call again, get someone else in India, tell them this has been happening since day 1. If you still get the run around try again.

If that is correct about a 3 month warranty on remotes it is downright stupid.
 
The remote is defective. If it's under warranty or you have Dish Care, you can get it replaced for free. I believe it's a known problem since Bell didn't ask too many questions after I explained the problem.

Yes it is pretty common for Remotes to 'eat' batteries. Bell TV will replace it, without too much hasle.

Also using rechargables is not a good idea as they tend to have a slightly lower voltage although again, it all depends on the make of the batteries. YMMV.
 
I too am having Remote #2 using batteries in less than a week so this is obvious an issue with this type of controller.
 
How long should a new set of batteries last? My reciever shows "Remote Batteries low" -or something- after slightly less than a month of use.
 
Ya, it is really getting out of hand. I am buying good Duracell and Enegizer batteries and they last maybe 7-9 days tops on my remote #1. My remote #2 seems to be OK though.

So if I bought my Bell dish through Visions, do I go through them to get a new remote?

Is there anyone else having an issue with the remote controls and batteries? About a month ago, I got my first 'remote battery low' indicator on my screen. I bought some new batteries and no problems. I admit, I did buy some cheap 'AAA' batteries. However, only a few days later, I was getting the same message. Figuring that I get what I pay for. After 3 changes in batteries, I finally bought some new Duracell batteries. Of all things, they lasted less than a week before getting the same message. Not just the message, but when I try to change volume on the tv, the light goes dim and nothing. So, I know that they are dead.
I checked the compartment and there was no leakage, so the remote is not damaged in any way.

Any one have any ideas????

I get around 8 months from a set of batteries.... That's with both my IR only remote and my IR+RF remote. I use the remotes an average of 3 - 4 hrs a day.

I just replaced the batteries in my IR+RF remote. It had been flashing the "remote battery low" message for over a month before the batteries died completely.
 
It's a commonly reported problem with the Bell remotes. The only fix is to replace the remote. Call Bell if it's still under warranty or you have Dish care.

I skimmed through the posts and must have missed it. Unfortunately, I am a few months past my warranty. So, it looks like I will have to buy a couple of new remotes.

You have to go through Bell for the replacement unless you have some sort of extended service agreement with Visions. Again, this assumes your receiver is either under warranty (less than year old) or you subscribe to DishCare. Otherwise, you will likely be charged for the replacement remote.

My UHF remote burns through batteries very quickly ( like 2 or3 days) even when I don't use it. Is this a known problem or do I have a lemon? Am I likely to get satisfactory performance if I buy a new one on Ebay?
