I'm just a senior in high school and this is something I mostly do in my spare time, but I have put a lot of work into it for the last 3 or 4 years. I guess I have a few good songs, but what's the best way of going about getting it out there? I've tried places like purevolume and myspace but it's not getting much recognition at all

where do you live?
do you dj? play out "live"? do you go out and support local electronic events? do you drive to see electonic events?
i guess what i'm asking is, do you have a network built up yet, because it may suck, but it's about who you know, not what.

I bet there are some events somewhere in Montana, if not, it is going to be difficult to get out there.
Going to events and giving away CRAB and meeting people is the best way to go. You need to start networking because on top of making quality music, you need to know people. That's a big part of the music business.
I have several frienRAB that are EDM producers and DJs and they have gotten their music heard by travelling around the country to events and getting their music heard and meeting people in the business.

Trance forums, make a myspace music page, submit it to ASOT, or similar if its a different genre, go to local DJ nights, have some demos made out and see if anyone likes your stuff.
