I've applied for positions as an experienced PHP developer; I just graduated from a 4-year university in mathematics and physics, but I've worked with PHP (along with HTML, JavaScript, SQL) for over 7 years as a hobby. I looked online for typical questions asked at an interview, and a lot of them involve technical aspects of the language that I've never delved into. I plan to study up on the language through a book or extensive tutorial, and I'm hoping this will give me a better shot.
Does anyone have any words of advice for someone in my position? Do you think I have a shot for an experienced position? I hear the salary for entry level PHP development positions isn't very good, so I may be considering another career path if my chances of getting an experienced position are low.
