Behavior is learned!!!

I'm so fucking tired of people trying to pass on the idea that people are predisposed to be a certain way (black people are all aggresive, gay people are born that way, Hispanics are lazy) you are not born to be anything, its all learned. you either are taught to act a certain way or you make a choice to act a certain way, behavior is learned. dont come with opinions, this is a fact.
 
Of course behavior is learned, i would think that obvious. I can agree on every statement except the following.


Can you offer proof that they aren't? Can you explain this; A gay person is brought up with straight parents, he has straight friends all of his life, he hasn't yet been exposed to other gays. Where did he learn to be homosexual?


Why post a thread, then say; don't post your opinions?
 
^ They are? Guess I do learn something new everyday. Personalities are not born with, we all pretty much know that, but the MAJORITY OF blacks are agressive, and gays are not born that way. This is why these stereotypes begin.
 
i was seriously raised to be a hard working, caring nice, perfectionist...and that's basically who i am summed up right there

plus i was taught to learn stuff to work through life..like fixing things til you know for sure it's broke and then go buy a new one..or not

i'm happy...no one will understand cuz i've lived with my window not being able to roll up or down properly and it was so annoying to me and i finally found this place www.lcmtruck.com that had a replacement for it, yay

so yea, back to topic...i believe people are taught to act a certain way..it's called highschool and parents...after that you use what you've learned to make choices you believe is right
 
Well you are right when you say it's a fact. A fact can be proven right or wrong. And I'll disprove what you said right now. What's your favorite color? Interesting, so who taught you to like that color best? Nobody? You mean you just naturally like that color? Great. And, oh, what is your favorite food? And who taught you to like the taste of that? Oh so that was just natural to you to? Great.

Obviously, not everything about someone is learned from experience. Some things are just natural.
 
Behavior is learned, not preferences, its true people are born liking certain things, there is a difference, but now that you've brought it up, would you say that if a kid starts hanging around a group of people who listen to a certain type of music, that the kid will "learn" to "like" this certain type of music, therefore making preferences learned (somewhat). and i said dont come with opinions, because you could sit here and tell me what you think all day long, i want some one who knows of a study, or of an experiment that proves that people are born into a certain dispostion (sp?).
 
I'll come up with one as soon as you come up with some sort of case study proving that behavior is purely learned through experience.
BTW people usually ask what is your sexual preference, not what is your sexual behavior.

That is exactly what we were taught in psych. But yeah, it gets kinda sticky from there. Anyway, I agree to a point that ppl learn behaviors.
 
haha. Astorology is a load of bs. But that could just be cuz i'm on the boarder and don't exactly know what i am. Oh well. Anyway, Behavior is complex. You can't just say that it's ALL leared or ALL inharited (sp). There are many things that cause a person to act the way they do and like the things they like.
