begineer photography learning advise please?

i am a nature lover specially i love wildlife activity. big cats always attracts me. due to responsiblity i was unable to fulfill my hobby i am 29 years old, i can spare some time for my hobby now. i want to explore and want to take good photos for my personal collection, though i dont want to be a professional photographer but but still i want to take good photos for my personal satisfaction. but before all this i want to know few things.

first which DSLR camera i should buy and what are the lens i need ?
what are the points i must understand or learn to jump in to nature and wild life photography.
i want to understand everything relating to camera and lens also.

The sony alpha's are the best!
I have the Sony alpha 300.
Its great.
And since you will be outside in wild nature and what not..
there is a screen that pops out so you can put the camera low and still see the picture.
