first obtain permission? For example, did Livingstone require permission to name the Victoria Falls after Queen Victoria? Did the developer of the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney first require Royal approval? Who ratifies these decisions? If a developer wanted to name a marina development the Princess Beatrice Moorings, would he first have to submit his plans to some Royal Approval body, or could he just go ahead and name the development anyway, cashing in on whatever prestige may be associated with the name?
