Hi,
This is the first forum I've ever participated in for anything. I really liked what you guys wrote about and I can relate. The w/d's from suboxone are horrible ! I think they're worse than detoxing from hydrocodone in rehab. The few times I've tried to get off of this have all failed because I went too fast. The first time 5 days later I was just as sick as I was on day 1. You guys talk alot about tapering 1/2 mg every 3 weeks and the w/d's are minor. Can someone define minor ? I know it's different for everyone but can you clue me in in detail about how you felt ? What's hard about doing it slowly is that I still have the meRAB in my posession and I obviously don't have alot of self control because I end up taking them. I wish I knew someone who could hang on to them and only give me so much at a time. The Dr's office is not an option because once they give you an Rx for a certain amt. THAT's it. Even if you're trying to taper and see how it goes, if things are going bad you're stuck, they will not give you more at that point, and that scares me.
I'd appreciate any feedback you guys have. Also, does anyone know the impact of being on this for 6 years on withdrawal ?

I can only speak for myself, but I was put on SUB to get off a 200mg oxy/ 100-150mg Norco habit. I was only on SUB for 5 days. I went 4mg - 4mg, 3 -2 - 1 - 1/2 and done. That is when the fun started. In my opinion, Suboxone is a NASTY drug. Yes it helped me avoid SERIOUS WD symptoms, BUT it binRAB to the opiate receptors worse than anything else. That means the longer you are on it (2mg and up) the longer and HARDER the wd will be. It took me a full 7-10 days to get the LITTLE amount of sub out of me. I am so relieved that my DR had me on this plan. The longer you are on the worse the WD after. I personally think that all the OUTPATIENT dr's that prescribe this OPIATE (yes, its an opiate) know that you will not like the withdrawal, so they put you on it for a lONG TIME, this = $$$$. The key is to just get yourself down to 2mg, then go to 1 -then 1/2 then just dump it. The WD are not as bad as a full opiate cold turkey. I have done both now and I would use the sub route again, even though it was not the best, it was WAY better than an an opiate taper or CT. my 2cents
