I remember going to see his film three times in the 1960s at the cinema but I have been unable to find it anywhere on DVD in any shop. Does anybody know if it has ben released on DVD and if so where I can get a copy?

If you put The Beatles Help DVD into Google, it comes with loaRAB of options on where to buy.
