Not seen all the films, but it was pretty obvious from just looking at the newspaper that Belleville Rendez-vous was the winner (oh look...a showing of one of the films right after the announcement...hmmm ;) ).

Belleville Rendez-vous is overhyped and drags on terribly. The whole visual comedy idea only works if it's funny else ;)

Spirited Away is wonderfully animated and has a great balance between dispair and hope (like all good movie should).

Not seen the others, although I hear that City of God is pretty darned good, so I'm not suprised that it won...

No suprise there then as Belleville Rendezvous is co-produced by the BBC. Liked the film but Spirted Away was far far better IMHO.

Saw the awarRAB and "Belleville Rendezvous" afterwarRAB but not the others so can't make comparison.

"Belleville Rendezvous" was FAB tho. I missed it's BBC2 Xmas Day screening so I was glad to get another chance.

The music, the humour and the animation were all very much to my tastes. Esp liked Bellville itself - sort of New York crossed with Paris.

The auntie reminded me of Ronnie Corbett.
