Hi, I 'm trying to decide between the Blackberry Curve, iphone or Cingular 8525. I have Cingular and am looking for something to keep appointment, get my Outlook mail, internet usage won't be high. Would like to be able to update Excel files but not a huge deal.

Any suggestions?

The 8525 has Windows Mobile, so it will work best with MS Office/Outlook.

IMO most blackberry devices are only good if your company provides them for free to push their corproate e-mail. Functions such as web browsing and working with files are marginal at best. I'd go with a Symbian or WM device if I have to pay out of pocket, it can do more things.

I'd also leave the iPhone out of your list at least until Apple decides to make it more buisness friendly through software updates (if ever). Although the mobile Safari browser provides one of the best mobile browsing experiences of any mobile device and has solid multimedia functionality, as of now it's more of a high-priced toy/status symbol than it is a serious buisness device.

Was curious about this when looking into a new phone for my wife. I figured she just should go w/ a BB for it's superior business e-mail platform. Then I took her to the AT&T store to play with it and she eyed the 8525 after asking if the BB can read/edit MS Word docs or PDFs. Flumoxed, even after having done some cursory research, I replied "uh...I think so."

So, to follow on this if a noob doesn't need all the bells and whistles of a bloated Windoze mobile device yet wants an easy to use phone (she liked the familiar look of the OS on the 8525), is there a way...a simple way for a non-techie type like my wife (no offense, honey)... to just read Word and PDF docs on a BB? Thanks.
