So I'm going on a Carnival cruise this march

will the Unlimited international BB plan for an extra $20 from TMO cover the cruise?

Anyone with experience about this?

Thanks!

Ok you might want to call and double check on that with customer service. They will be able to tell you for sure if the area you are traveling to will cover you! Thats your best bet for a most definite answer!

it will only cover emails and PINs, any others that require data, web browsers, jivetalk, beyond411 will be charged per kb or wut not.

so with the $20 int'l add-on , u can email and pin ur live away

On Royal Caribbean (Adv of the Seas) there was WiFi all over for internet & voip. Also, my carrier plan was for roaming so when wi-fi was absent I still had GPRS while the ship was in the middle of the ocean. Really cool. Never made a roaming call I stuck with Jivetalk and BB messenger. Just make sure you have voice and date roaming

Exaclty what he said. Call ahead of time and get whats called WORLD CLASS roaming permissions. You can ask exact pricing for roaming off intl networks and actually we have access to what networks are in which contries and a general coverage map. Like Hayden said, try to use the WIFI *if you have a UMA phone* and be careful with intl data usage and phone calls. Other than that, you should be ok.

same here minus the wifi
although i was only a few miles off the coast of cali/baja and down to cabo, i had signal the whole time (roaming too) i used bbm ONLY and my made two calls and my bill was like 4$ more.

Any suggestion in configuration of devlice i.e. in Option-Mobile Network options, Connection prefrance should be WiFi only? - In order to avoid roming chanrge on voice UMA call , do I need to desable Mobile Network ?

Can I keep my my data service on?

Thanks,

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ Wow. Happy I found this thread. I will be going on my second cruise in July. First time I went 3 years ago my 7730 didn't work. I think I didn't even take it with me cause it behaved poorly at home.

Gonna have to ask a BBM buddy if my Pearl will work.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ Forgot to mention this cruise and the first one I went on were both Carnival. I had to purchase their internet service to check my email via PC. I hope I won't have to do that again.

I was on a cruise in February on Carnival with my Curve and Tmobile. Added the $20 intl package which was prorated based on the telephones reps recommendation... Yeah my bill is normally around $250 per month... That bill cycle ended with a $700 cell bill. I have argued once with a rep on the phone. She somehow couldn't understand what charges I was referring to. This was also the case when I explained why my first hotspot@home bill was $460 more!!!! They finally credited me the $465 after I paid an $1800 cell bill 3 weeks ago. Make sure you document and get your facts straights if you are a heavy user and adopt to technology quicker than a wireless company does. I am a heavy user (4000+ minutes/4000+ txts mnthly)... Just my advice for everyone!!!

Feel free to hit me up on my bb msngr pin -- 241BC0A2
