battery life: Blackberry connect or Activesync on E61

Have used both Activesync and Blackberry on the e61 and it really seems like using the blackberry gets much better battery life than using Activesync. Are other people finding this to be true as well? I would much prefer to not use blackberry due to cost if possible.

Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this. I'm on Cingular if it matters.

I use activesync, set to sync every 15 minutes and I get about 2 1/2 - 3 days from a charge which, imho, is really good for a phone (computer?) like this.

This would be using activesync always on.

Activesync sends/receives a lot of data for each connection. Thats going to use more bandwidth and more battery.

Then again - do you really REALLY need "always connected" email?
