Bass drum technique help?

I have been playing drums now for about 3 years and I have recently noticed something with my bass drum strokes my hand technique is fine but ive never really worked much on bass drum it's just been there. Sometimes when I hit a bass drum stroke it hits the drum firmly then afterwards dribbles on the head I'm not sure why and it might be a bad thing my teacher says it may be because my foot technique has not fully developed and will come in time so any feedback or exercises to help prevent this thanks
