Basic question on Bluetooth sync

I have read the well done manual on how to surf the internet with a Tungsten T and Bluetooth.

I have recently got a T3. I don't wish to surf the internet over a PC. I only want to be able to hotsync it to a laptop over BT in order to check bluewtooth functionality on a Sony laptop using an Anycom dongle.

Doing as the manual describes implies setting up the Palm as a network client.

Is this really necessary if you only want to sync to a particular pc equipped with bluetooth?

I have searched this forum but not found anything on how to just set up the sync fucntionality.

When I go into the hotsync setup menu on the PC, the info presumes that I want to hotsync over the network to a particular PC. This is not the case, since the PC I want to sync with is the one I establish a BT connection to.

(This is not meant to be my main sync option, I use a cradle or a cable for that. But it could be good to save copies onto a laptop as well as card while travelling)

I'm guessing here- I don't know the answer. But when I wanted to sync using IR, I had to set it to "Local Serial". Then I had to set the serial to a specific COM port, which was in fact assigned to the IR port. I wonder if the same happens with bluetooth, and your dongle is assigned to a COM port which you need to select, and use local serial... Just a thought.
I can see your point. I've never had my pda syncing over Bluetooth, but I'm sure someone who has will know the answer.

Okay sorry I just checked the guide (brilliant as always) after writing that. Should've checked it first!
It appears I was on the right lines though which is good!

EDIT: And now I've just realised the thread is two months old.
It's been a long day...
