Basic phone for my dad

My dad needs a new basic phone. He's the typical adult who sucks with technology, so all he needs is a phone for making calls.

I would like the following characteristics.

-Good battery life
-Good reception (we live in a somewhat low reception area so this is critical)
-Good mobile-to-mobile sound quality

Anything else is not important. I would also prefer to spend as little as possible since I will most likely be buying this phone without contract.

edit: I ended up getting him a prepaid LG VX5500 from Walmart for $22. I found out that you could activate prepaid phones on your postpaid account so this was a great cheap option. My dad says the battery life has been excellent and he hasn't had any problems with signal strength or sound quality.
