Barrett's Esophagus

Hello!
I've just been diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus and I'm scared. Any worRAB of wisdom or advice?

I have also recently been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus. I developed severe acid reflux after prednisone for a respiratory virus. I didn't even have a reflux problem before I got sick in Feb. I have been very concerned too since my acid reflux has been uncontrollable since then. I have done a lot of reading and the chance of esophageal cancer is very small. Try to stay positive. I know it is difficult news to digest.
 
Thanks, Donna! You're right. The risk of developing cancer is small and the more I read, the more I discover that. My Barrett's does not have any dysplasia, so that's good, but it just scared me a lot as like you, I didn't have acid reflux that bad at all until I experienced a bit of it last year and mentioned it to my doctor. My doctor wasn't the least concerned and said she'd scope me again in 3 years and that if dysplasia ever appeared they had several treatments to eliminate it.
