Bar End Weights An Issue For Heat Demons

Went to install grip warmers last night and ran into a road block. I have bar end weights and don't have a clue how to remove them to install this. Any help at all would be welcome.

I can't tell you for sure but I can give you a warning:
Until you hear from someone who knows, do NOT unscrew the screw all the way !!!

On a lot of models, they have a rubber expansion plug that holds them in; to remove, you just need to loosen the screw until it is not tight anymore and the pull the whole assembly out.

If your's work that way and you take the screw all the way out, the parts of the expansion assembly (nut and washers) fall off inside the bars and are sometimes hard to retrieve.

Are you going to change out grips too? I took my OEM grips off this past weekend and put Pro Chrome grips on, and did not miss the weighted ends.

Well I did find out the hard way but thankfully the nut on the end didn't fall all the way down the bar and I just tipped the bike to the right, it fell out and I put it back together.

Anyway, as mentioned before loosen the screw a little which reduces the pressure on the rubber expansion fitting and then pull the whole assembly out weight and all.

To reinstall reverse the process. Push the rubber fitting and weight into the bar end until the weight is snug against the bar end. Tighten the screw and the rubber will regrip the inside of the bar.

I'm not talking about the end caps here. The set up on my C109 is completely different than the 800s or 1500s. Behind the end cap and inside the handlebar there's a steel sleeve with a 8mm threaded hole that houses the screw to hold the end cap on. This sleeve also acts as a weight. I have no idea how this sleeve was installed so i obviously don't know how to remove it. It may even be fused into place. I need to remove it so i can install heat demon grip warmers. Once removed, I can compensate for the weight with other methods. Exterior grip warmers aren't an option here as they aren't tidy enough. I've already tried a sleeve-pull and that didn't work. To answer sra4031, yes, I am changing the grips as well. I'm putting Kuryakyn grips on.

Hi,
New here. Will post pics of my bike soon. As to removing the plug for the end weights not gonig to happen. At least on my bike (08 C109R) I removed the turn signal housing and looked into the small hole that indexes it, there is what appears to be a steel bar.I am assuming that this is coming from the end of the bars and extending at least past this point maybe to the first bend. Suzuki's way to help stop vibrations?
