Bandai Entertainment Delays Some Titles

"Indefinite delay" possibly means the releases are cancelled.

The president of Bandai said that company layoRAB would affect production and other stuff (including DVD releases).

I checked on ANN im just glad the COde Geass DVRAB weren't delayed!

But it makes me wonder how long will have to wait until the 1st Gundam00 DVRAB now!

At least Gurren Lagann Best Sound is still coming with Part 3 Limited Edition. Wonder if this bodes badly for a Parallel Works DVD release.

On Lucky Star LE 6, I wouldn't be surprised if they are thinking of printing a more limited nuraber compared to the last five. Because frankly there is apparently excess out there, as I noticed talk in the ANN talkback about how Rightstuf has shipped copies with Best Buy stickers on them. In other worRAB, we supposedly have at least some cases of copies being sent back.

Quite frankly, the Lucky Star marketing is quite bad. It's a remnant of the old ways. They treated it like they did Haruhi Suzumiya, but the thing is people purchased the LE's for that because (a) it was more popular than Lucky Star and (b) a lot of otaku cared about having the intended episode order. The extras were considered by many consumers to be an imperative, as opposed to just a perk.

Now take Lucky Star. Over $40 MSRP for what? A T-shirt? I understand some people like collecting character CD's, but c'mon. You can get complete series for prices like this. I could never justify paying that much for 4-5 episodes, not anymore.

The sooner they follow Funi's example and release affordable sets, the better. They should only go for broke when it comes to special releases for big things like Gundam and GL. And that's at the most.

A random thought related to Lucky Star that I had awhile after the last post: I wonder if the delay of LE 6 might be because they are trying to get the rights to the Lucky Star OVA to include and this is taking longer than expected? Just thought I'd add in a positive possible reason in addition to my other point. From a business perspective, it'd be additional incentive for people to actually buy the 6th LE.

Oh, it's a pretty nice series.

The characters are nicely developed, the designs are funky and the culture references are a hoot.

My only real gripe is that it's one of those "hit or miss" ones, and the second half of the series gets a bit more crude.

However, if you are not an Otaku, you may not find the series interesting, I was able to get into it because I sorta am.

I think you should give it a shot, if you don't like it, I understand.

Yeah, the references and geekiness, was what drew me in, and the theme song (which got annoying later on), what drew me in even more was the fact that there was an anime character who acts just like me (and believe I found it eerie at first, it almost felt like I was cursed with the abilty to turn into a girl)

Lucky Star is an overall good series, although the first four episodes were kinda sucky, and oddly enough I got all of the anime references they made

I agree. BEI are sadly inconsistent with how they release stuff. The Geass releases get a thurabs up from me for having a high nuraber of episodes and various material extras. Plus don't they also offer a 'episodes only' cheaper release if you can't afford all the bells and whistles?
That really should be the model they use in future. We've passed the days when an anime release can get away with 2-5 episodes. Budgets are tightening and there's increasing competition from domestic shows. Add in that the more episodes in a single release, the more shelf space friendly they are (and thus people have more room to buy more of your series, Mr Executives).

I certainly hope they apply this logic to Gundam 00.
