Not sure to put thins in Film or TV so i will post it here... :)

I have reciently got the Band Of Briothers DVD box set and just watched all 10!!!! (My arse is numb!)

I think it is one of the best mini film/TV series aver!!!! Just as good as saving private ryan!

What do you all think of it? I hope they make another similar series. (Maybe the British Red devials or the 101st Armored)

Definitely the best TV Series I've seen. I bought the DVD set the week it came out.

One critiicism I will make though is that there are numerous inconsistencies and historical inaccuracies,

For instance in the episode "The Breaking Point", Three characters Huber, Muck and Pintella (?) die and are mourned by their comrades - I didn't remember them from previous episodes. Also, in the same episode, I got the impression that "Foxhole Norman" died cowering behind that haystack; but it was never clear whether that was supposed to be the case.

In fact Dike survived and was promoted to captain. Also, after every battle GIs are depicted killing prisoners of war. I read an interview with Carwood Lipton who claimed that this was absolute rubbish and they never shot any prisoners.

Anyway, such a detailed series based on fact, is bound to throw up these sort of incosistencies. I still rate it the best I've seen.

I don't remember this from the programme - there was a story the soldiers told each other about one of the toughest officers killing a group of POWs, but it turned out to be a myth in the end.

That incident is actually depicted in episode two. One of the prisoners killed is the German-Armerican seen chatting with Malarky. Also, just before the sniper opens up at Foy, they have a German up against the wall and look as if they are about to shoot him. In "The Last Patrol" the rookie lieutenant has to step in to stop a prisoner being executed and in "CrossroaRAB" Winters makes Leibgodt give up his ammo because he suspects he is planning to 'drop' prisoners.

truly awesome show, and thats not something I say too often.

watched it on the BBC first, but they messed up the repeat sheduling, I only found out that I hadnt seen the last episode when i got the DVD! What a final episode it is too, very moving TV.

I know there are some inaccuracies, which is a shame, but it doesnt detract from the overall point.

Schwimmer (sp??) was good I thought, and im not a fan!

Uh yeah, as you've guessed, I've watched little else since Xmas. :o

One of the big plusses of this production is that there's so much of it you never get bored. There's always something that you missed last time.

OK, here's your starter for ten folks. ...

Which member of Easy Company is an ex-member of New KiRAB on The Block?

Absolutely fantastic series, finished watching the DVD boxset last week. It is a shame about the inconsistencies though, however from what I can tell the inconsistencies are used with what I think is called 'artistic license', where they bend the truth to create better screenplay. For example, when the German army surrender, there is a scene where a German major offers the surrender of his troops to Winters, and in a gesture also offers him his pistol. Winters then says 'you may keep your sidearm, major' I guess in a show of mutual respect. However, in the documentary (on disc 6 of the DVD boxset), the real Winters is interviewed and he has with him the pistol the German major offered him - so in 'real life' it looks as though he did indeed accept the pistol... interesting.

Can you tell me where I find this information about norman dike? I was curious about what ended up happening to him. the implication was he got killed but they never said or you never saw it. You stated that he survived and got captain.
Ty in advance
