Now these car companies are asking for 25 billion dollars to bail them out, GM estimates 4 months until they are out of cash. I think I have a solution:
Quit bailing out these corporations, and bail out the people. Why not give the taxpayers back their money, and let them spend it? Why would we give money to these companies to build cars nobody can afford to buy?
Has no one else thought of this, why isn't this being proposed???
Heck, they could even consider "coupons", give the people a discount on new cars, 50% off sounds good to me...
Planet: What I'm saying is this, have the companys EARN their money, not get it in a hand out.

Don't be silly...if we didn't give the billions directly to the corporations, how would the executives continue to pay for their expensive life styles??? Don't you know that the money for huge salary packages, bonuses, early retirement buyouts, expense accounts, etc have to be given to the corporate bigwigs before anyone even begins to consider "trickling down" to the lowly taxpayers themselves???
How come "Joe the Plumber" isn't on every television news channel complaining about how his money and the rest of these billions of tax dollars are being handed to these companies, when he's quick to complain that Obama wants his taxes to go to help individuals.
Re: your idea for coupons, I would sure love a 50%off an auto purchase! But they'll say they can't afford the workers to fill the orders for them without bailout money upfront.

I'm still furious about the first darn bailout.
It is like flushing money down the toilet.
Your idea is too good, too simple, for our Gov. to even consider.

when you start bailing out companies, then they all tend to follow the leader

Yes, it does make sense. 1) one in ten jobs in this country depend on the Big Three. They go under, where are all those people going to find jobs? 2) Without an auto industry in this country we could never tool up for a war, should we have to switch over to building planes, tanks, and other war machines, etc., the way they did during WWII. Giving the Big Three a bail out would come with strings attached and those proposed make sense.
