Bad newbe mistake

ok, I removed the carbs to do a overhaul on them. All is well and back together. Now the problem.

I seem to be missing a "clip" of some kind.I have the two throttle cables. they meet at a reducer/connector and then continue as one cable to the hand grip.
Now, is there a "clip that holds the two cable ends and hooks the hand grip cable end into it as well?? I guess I didn't see that area when disassembly. So is something missing??

What does it look like??

Would someone have one to spare???

There should be a black plastic connector, about an inch and a half long, a half inch tall, and a quarter inch deep, with one small hole in one end and two small holes in the other for the three cables. Inside the connector is a sliding plastic plate, also with three holes- the two short cables go in the outer holes, the throttle cable in the center. It is the same part from 1992-2007, but it does not have a part number, as it it sold only as part of the throttle cable assembly, part number 58300-39E00, about $33. A salvage yard might be your best choice, or if someone has broken their throttle cable their replacement came with a new connector and they might have the old one laying around. Your timing stinks- I had a 1996 Intruder 800 with a blown motor sitting around here for several years, and on it was a spare connector, but I gave the bike away when I cleaned out the shop about 4 months ago.
 
I've been called worse, that's for sure. I;d expound, but I'm pretty sure the word sensor would screen out words like ********, *******, ********, ******, ***, *****, and ******.

a "sliding plastic plate, also with three holes" is the part missing. The black part is there.
It is just plastic plate?? What color?clear or black?

Is that a sorta similar part with "other" V-twins T-cable? Like, if I went and begged at the local motorcycle shop for "one off the floor", it might work?

How hard would it be to fab up one of my own? More trouble than worth??


I cleaned out the carbs REAL GOOD. I must say , there WAS a lot of varnish / dirt/ and even some really stinky gas in the rear carb! I Shined or painted everything up and was re-assembling it all. [ Removing carbs. NOT fun to do]
When I got to the cable part, I freaked out! something was not right.

I swear I turned the garage upside down! but never found it.

As I recall, that little sliding part is white plastic, though it may be metal- it has been several years since I did a throttle cable on an Intruder. It probably had a fair amount of grease on it, so it may be stuck to something.

I don't know of any other bike that uses this same set up, other than the 1400 Intruder, but even that one is a bit different. You could probably make something...but then again, on a bike that old a $33 thottle cable might be a good investment anyways, as with the single-cable set up on the Intruder you are screwed if it breaks.
 
Well I was lucky enough to find one today! The guy was shaking the theri cable saying something is down there.but I can have the cable!

So I went home and down at the bottom of my cable was the clip I panicked about! Yep covered in dirty grease[black] I barely saw it then.It has been there all along! It can't come off the single cable!!
I grabed some tweasers and pulled it out and hooked it right up!

I guess I go blind sometimes.... but now I have a spare!!
