I've had a check engine light on for a while now and decided to get it checked out. Two codes came up, one for the heating circuit, and one for the O2 sensor before the cat converter. I replaced the O2 sensor and scanned it again, this time only one code came up. P0135 for the heating circuit.
I had a few automotive techs check it out, and one said I might have a few clipped wires and and if not, then the ECU is bad. He checks for resistance in the wires and found that there was no signal in a couple wires, and reattached them. The code stays, so he says it's probably a fried ECU and I need a new one.
Anyway, my question and concern is/are... Is it really a bad ECU? And (I'm no pro at this stuff) isn't the ECU the main source that runs the emissions for the car? I know Civics are known for 30+ mpg highway... I still get around 28-29 highway, 22-24 city... I figure a bad ECU would mean nothings functioning properly and my mpg would suck... well anyway.. enough with my dumb questions.... anyone have an answer or opinion?
Purchased sensor was factory one.
