2003 Hyundai Elantra Elantra GLS
147,0XX miles on it as from about one hour ago.
Problem:
My check engine light came on, went to my regular mechanic who only had about 20
min left open and squeezed me in to read the code.
"Catalyst is below the performance threshold" was on the screen. He told me it
was the cadillac converter, was probably bad. Remember he only had a few min to
check it out so did not lift the car to give a more through inspection. SO he
cleared the code and said it will come back if there is a real problem.
A few days later and a few hours driving, it has NOT returned. So could this
have just been a false alarm or a fluke occurrence? Here in upstate, New York we
have had a few weeks of extreme snow/ice storms.
