BackupBuddy - BlueNomad gone?

Think & Say

I have been trying to contact the company as well to purchase a version. Can you direct me to the site where they are selling version 2.1.4? I would be OK with that version until or if they come back on line,

Thanks in advance,

Tim N.

To be fair, I don't think they have upgraded most of their product line in some time (although they were very responsive to support requests).

I'm not all that familiar with iPhone Apps; but if they could move WordSmith over to the iPhone (or Windows Mobile, although I'm a bit off that now); it would be great. It's one of the most elegant, simple, problem free 3rd party apps I've ever used.

I've seen some PalmOS developers simply vanish in thin air with no warning. Perhaps the most notorious was Brayder, the developers of JackFlash and JackSprat. One day their website was hacked, and then they disappeared (or perhaps it was the other way around). More recently, Aerodrome Software (developers of Aeroplayer) shut down their website with no prior announcement. Hopefully BlueNomad will be back online soon.

I'd hate it if they were gone. I LOVE (and rely on) WordSmith. It's a tremendous program (also not upgraded much).

Perhaps they are offline because of the recent weather disruptions? I forget where they are located (I thought it was California; but I'm not sure). I know here on the East Coast, several things went down (including my state's library network).

Edit: I'd have hoped they'd have sent out an e-mail or something if they were closing up.

Welcome to rabroad, v123! :)

Bluenomad does seem to be offline, but I don't know if they are just having technical difficulties or if they have left business. If they are gone for good, then I'm afraid you will find it very difficult to get a license for the latest version.

You purchased the version of BackupBuddy that makes a backup on the computer, right? This procedure is useful for a IIIxe which does not have an SD card slot, but if your device can use an SD card you'd be much better using a backup program that makes the backup on the card. What Treo model did you purchase? If it's one of the newer models (650 and later), then you can use a program called NVBackup, which is free and makes a full backup of the device on the SD card. This means you can restore and recover data while on the road away from your computer. You don't need any computer to restore: the Palm can do it by itself. This may be little consolation considering you just purchased BackupBuddy, but I think you'll find this procedure much more convenient.

I just u/g from a Palm IIIxe to a Treo. Yeah I'm slow. I purchased BackupBuddy for Windows but it is version 2.1.4 the latest is ver 2.1.6. BlueNomad's website is down and no response to email. Are they gone?

The seller just has 2.1.4 in registered ver. I tried to upgrade by installing the trial of 2.1.6 over my 2.1.4 as per the instructions but it does not upgrade correctly. It just changes me to unregistered with the newer version.

How can I get the registered ver of BackupBuddy for Windows 2.1.6 or upgrade my ver 2.1.4?

Thanks,
vince
