I am planning to go backpacking through Europe for around 3 months starting in November 2010 with my brother and a mate.
I am interested in travelling through Western Europe first for about 6 weeks - 8 weeks, then travelling east ,maybe on the Tran-Siberia rail network into China to finish.
Has anyone done a similar trip to this, and if so can you recommend hostels to stay in and how long we should spend in each city, also are there any suggestions for a particular city/country which is worth going to?
Since in November it is fairly cold in Europe would it be too cold come late december/ mid january to travel east through Russia?
Also how much approximately would we be looking to spend per day on everyday living expenses such as food, accommodation and travel b/w cities?
