I have my 3 to 6 month backpacking trip planned out from Cairns to Melbourne. Now I'm a bit worried that I wont meet anyone traveling in the same direction as me. I was hoping to maybe meet people along the way and tag along when applicable. I've heard though that people are typically going from Melbourne/Sydney to Cairns (South to North). Can anyone tell me if I should change my plans or no?
For first answer > I will be starting in mid April, also I am from one of the coldest cities in Canada, any place without snow is all I need, so not too concerned with weather. More concerned with the typical flow of backpackers. (North to South, or South to North). Although, with your answer it leads me to believe they usually follow the weather? So I should go Cairns to Melbourne.
