BACKING UP PS3 HARD DRIVE WITHOUT A PS3?

my ps3 has broken down. how unlikely, i know. however, i can no longer back up my hard drive. any ideas?
 
The hard drive in a PS3 is the same as a laptop drive. Just put another drive in it until it's fixed. The game system itself is not stored on the hard drive, only the game saves are. So until it's fixed just keep the drive aside, then when you get it repaired just drop your drive back in.
