Back to the Future

ITV are showing all 3 Back to the Future Fils this week and something has been bothering me since the very first time I saw the first film.
When Marty is stood over George in his NBC suit with the walkman blaring out and he says "My name is Darth Vader... from the planet......"
My theory is he said "Fcukin" but surely that can't be?

part 4 or "the new back to the future" film was in the making years ago but a fire at universal destroying new sets and scripts.

also et 2 was damaged at the same time

after they lost all the stuff it was decided it would cost to much to replace(?????)

Won't Michael J Fox's illness have something to do with there beinga lack of a Part 4, also? Unless the producers want to go down a different route entirely.

Whatever, it's a perfect trilogy, as was the Original Star Wars Trilogy and the Indy Trilogy and is best left well alone.

Lest we end up with something that tarnishes the quality of the originals - a la the Star Wars prequels.

Also in the bedroom darth vader scene, Marty originally told his future dad he'd melt his brain but it is cut in the tv versions although in a later scene George does say he doesn't want his brain melting, bit odd if you didn't see the original. I may have missed it but I'm sure they cut the scene where the doc shows Marty his plan for the train push on the car in model from, you could see the model, I dodn't recall seeing the scene.

I love the BTTF films, so had to get it on DVD for xmas.

Yes the darth vader scene is cut, because of timing issues it says on the dvd commentary.

Also some other scenes were cut-out.

doodle_bug you are slightly correct.

George sees Marty after the darth vader and says to marty about the darth vader incident and says that he said he would melt his brain if he didn't take lorraine to the dance.

Also the other part you are on about, is BTTF3 in the lab of Doc's just before Clara turns up with the Telescope to fix.

I didn't see it this week on ITV so not sure if it was edited out, but knowing ITV probably yes.

Has for part 4, there is always news and then no news about if there is going to be one, but a few months ago, Chris Lloyd said he would be interested in a sequel if it went ahead.

Pathetic drivel.

As for Part IV, any true fan of the trilogy would be against a 4th part.

Its the casual, popcorn-chomping, soft-drink slurping cinema fans who want a 4th film. A good excuse to get through that giant packet of M&Ms.

Also in the "Darth Vader" scene, Marty 'threatens' George with a modern 1980s hairdryer. An earlier scene, with Doc packing some stuff into the DeLorean for the trip (I think part of the scene remained, with him packing cotton underwear) explaining the existence of the hairdryer in 1955, was cut.

On the dvd in the deleted scenes, they also mention this.

There is a scene were marty and doc have brought back the delorean, and doc is going through his belongings and there is the hairdryer as well a playboy mag lol.

They said they also cut it for timing issues.

sHak I also agree leave the trilogy as it is, only those people to get fatter eating m&m.

However though, there is a parody coming out starring Jack Black which features about 20 mins of Back To The Future.

Not sure the name of his film but it is to do with a film store and something goes wrong with the library collection so the character make their own to try and ensure no-one notices.

Jack black said that he loves the BTTF films and always wanted to do soemthing in regarRAB to it.

Probably will do when on TV, I don't think I will acquire this film

But then you never know, if others go on about it, then I probably will acquire.

Now that Paddy has mentioned the name, I wasn't sure at the time, and incase anyone can't be arsed to go to IMDB and read up on it.

Basically, the Jack Black character either owns/works in a video rental store, and has a problem with magnetism which blanks the films off.

One of the loyal little old lady, they don't want to upset, so they make their own version hoping she won't notice.

The Back to the Future films are my favourite films.

But I do not want a part 4. It would seem really out of place alongside the first three, considering the first three fit together perfectly and conclude perfectly, and Michael J Fox is obviously a lot older now so the film could not 'pick up where it left off'.

However...

I would obviously love more Back to the Future, so would not be against the idea of a new movie or trilogy that was more distinct and independent from the first trilogy, that didn't interfere with the events of the first trilogy, and with a mostly different cast to set it apart further.

For example, something like a new Trilogy called "Return to the Future" featuring Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown and maybe some new characters such as Jules, Verne, or one of Marty's kiRAB of the "successful Marty" timeline, with maybe a cameo from Marty. It could be set in the further future (2045 or something) and they could go back to the 1980s perhaps, but not mess with the first film.

It is kinda perfect that Christopher Lloyd's Doc was always made up to look old, as he could easily resume the role without anyone thinking he looked very different.

I was like that too, I spent 6 hours looking at the extras. Last night I watch #1 all the way through through 5.1 :D #2 tonight

There is now 2 versions out in the UK of the trilogy.

There is the normal edition released 2 years or whenever, and the new boxset in Oct listed as the Ultimate Edition.

Not sure the differences but I got the Ultimate as thats all they had in the shop at the time.
