What kind of surgery did your hubby have? Sometimes it is possible to go home the same day, depending on what was done. When did he have the surgery and what kind of dr. did it? What were his symptoms prior to surgery and what was the diagnosis?

We really need this information before even trying to guess what might be going on.

You'd have to supply us with more detail. There are many different types of surgeries, some that are same-day surgeries and you go home that day. Some require long hospitalizations. Some are minimally invasive (small incision) and some are more invasive. My cousin recently had an outpatient microdiscectomy and was home about 6 hours after he got to the surgical facility. He was also given a week's worth of vicodin and needed to have 2-3 weeks off of work and one refill of the vicodin.

On the other side I've had extensive low back surgery that kept me in the hospital for a week and I have been on monitored pain meRAB with a pain management doctors for over 2 yrs.

Doctors are a blessing, but patients and their families must educate themselves on treatment options, what to expect upon recovery, etc. You need to find out exactly what kind of surgery he had, which levels of the spine, and contact the surgeon's office with any concerns for swollen feet or other questions.
