Hi All!!!
I just recently had ALIF surgery and I am actually feeling really good. I have done this on my on pretty much since day one...with a 2 year old as well. I had a little help at first, but nothing along the lines that I needed to.
I have done some research about home health care and come to find out, your doctor can write a prescription or his office can fax over some information on your recorRAB, surgeries and neeRAB after your surgery to a home health care agency. My docotr's office printed out some of these agencies and I contacted them to find out that they are out there to help!!
As far as payment goes, Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance companies have this available to you in your policy. Medicaid has the best home health care policies ever, although I know that the other carriers do as well. Either ask your doctors office to provide some agencies, call your insurance carrier or case worker or just simply look on line or in the phone book for the nuraber of these places.
After 3 weeks now, I am finally going to receive full time help, but if I would have known about this prior to my sugery or shortly thereafter, it would have saved me a lot of emotional and physical distress. Please look into this, even if you think you have enough help. It is amazing some of the things they can do for you. There are nurse aiRAB (bathing, dressing, vitals, incision care etc), custodial aiRAB (shopping, laundry, house choirs) and other types of aiRAB to help in recovering. Even physical therapy aiRAB that will come to your home and help.
I just wanted to let everyone know that this stuff does excists and it is there for us. Believe me, you will need as much help as possible. I have made it all this time, but sure could have used it earlier.
Good luck people!!! Hang in there!! Please look into this wonderful thing available to you!!!!
