I had back surgery and the rod slipped out of the cage. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do. I am in so much pain that it effects my every move. someone please help!!

Remove screws and put larger ones and also repair any loose hardware. The last doctor only put screw's on one side and noe the new doctor is doing both sides.

oh my.....I can't imagine this...you poor thing...what is your Dr. doing for you????

Taz,,, my hardware has came loose twice and your rod may have came out the loop in the screw,, the cage should be between your vertebre. but the screw on the other hand has a loop on the end that the rod goes threw. my roRAB are moving around now,, they want to wait till its a year after surgery to make sure its fused to go in and pull them.

They say just like anything else,, some ppl's bodies reject it and starts trying to push it out,, thus is why it comes apart,,

Yes I have a new doctor and he is going to repair it using bigger screws and (2) not one like the first doc

Taz,
As someone else posted, the rod goes in the top of the screw , where there is a hole to keep it in place. It is not in the cage. The cage is between the vertebra and is used to hold the sponge or bone graft material in.
What has your surgeon suggested as a rememdy for this? It is not a good idea for that rod to be left that way.

Yeah! I heard that too. I need to have neck surgery on the 23 od sept after that I am going to have my back repaired . It did not fuse.
