you know this seems a little to extreme for me. My doctor from Milwaukee Wisconsin has a much better back strengthening exercises
1. Sit in your most favorite chair (recliner preferred)
2. Turn on your favorite baseball/football game
3. Strap (for beginners) 8oz nips to each foot with duct tape, as much insulation as possible for further use. If you more advance go with the 12oz or 1liter for experts.
4. 10 sets 4 times for both legs, if you time it right you'll be out of beer so take one off of the legs continue to consume fluiRAB so your not dehydrated.
5. Stap 2nd beer of choice to forehead while in chair, do fake sit ups 5 sets of 10.
6. Take beer off forehead, if your back still hurts, drink the last beer.
7. Take a nap until the 8th inning.
100% to make you feel better. If not repeat as necessary. Just having fun

Hey guys,

After visiting my doc and chiro they have said its ok for me continue exercising as there are no signs of any serious damage and more likely I need to strengthen both my core and my back.

Could you recommend some back stretching/core exercises that can be done first thing in the morning? And also some back strengthening exercises that can be done with light weights?

I know a few such core such as the plank and the bridge - a few more would really help though. I'd imagine 15 minutes every morning would be a good start.

I struggle more with strength exercises. Know plenty for my upper back but only really deadlifts for my lower and possibly squats.

If you are not sure the best thing is to pay for a personal Instructor, phiso therapist to teach and then you can stop and carry it on by your self and maintain it or another thing that help for core strengthening is an art called tai chi and take some yoga class's for good knowledge on stretching and the u can take that knoledge away with u and maintain it I hope that helps!

Good luck

I do know of back strengthening exercises. But for me to try and describe them when they are already done-by professionals, with pictures so you get the proper position, why try. I would hate to have tried to describe an exercise for you and then have you hurt yourself because my explanation wasn't quite right. Get it? I looked and found those for you-taking that step away so you wouldn't have to search. Just head to the web page. remeraber core strength is the most important for back people.

If "locking" your back hurts, why would you want to do more of that - i.e. ab work?

Why not stretch it instead?

which will open up your L1/L2 area instead?

Why do they think this? This rarely helps the majority of chronic back pain sufferers. Only if you have pain only when lifting heavy objects.

If you have disc issues, this is not a good idea. Discs fill with fluid overnight. Levels go down to normal in 1 hour. Bending first thing greatly increases chances of damaging your discs.

Yeah the person replying is correct with the exercises you want to do you need to not do anything apart from some really simple stretches and I'm real simple in the morning you have to be careful as you can damage your self even more especially people spine injuries and problems but stop looking for people to advise you on what exercise to do on the web even if they show you with diagrams does not mean your doing it right so always get a Phisio or a personal instructor to help you until u learn them correctly then go off and do the exercises on ur own.

Hope this helps

Also it's not just your back u need to strengthen as you need to strengthen your abb's as well to balance and stabilize the spine from your back and the front as your abb's are also important for stabilizing your spine.

Even though ur told what exercise to do it does not mean u are doing it wright so is all ways best for a professional to show you how to do it wright as it is important for any person who has are problems on this site because you can do more damage if not done wright.

Hope this helps!

Google back strengthening exercises and you will find ones from the Mayo clinic and several others. They all are more or less the same, so you can opick and choose which ones suit you the best.
