Help!
I had labral repair surgery on Jan 15. After 6 weeks in a sling I had excruciating neck pain that woke me every 2 hours. These went on for about 2 weeks. The pain then moved to my back, specifically between the shoulder blade and spine (on the opposite side of the surgery). Around the same time I noticed it was hard to breath when laying on my back, not so bad on my side. My wife (a medical professional) says I exhale rapidly when sleeping to the point it sometimes shakes our bed. While my back isn't bothering me as much as it was, I still have two distinct spots where the muscle feels like chord or rope (this coming from my PT).
I have been to my GP; he ordered chest xrays, which came back fine. He prescribed me 10 mg flexaril, which helped the back, but not the breathing.
According to my self-diagnosis via the Net, I am recovering from polio and will soon be in an iron lung.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's hard to get more than 6 hours of continuous sleep so of course I am often tired. The trouble breathing is making me a little anxious at night so I'm having to take a little xanax some night just to sleep.
This is affecting all bedroom activities as it's hard to get in the mood when I'm struggling for breath. My wife just left for a week's vacation to the VI with some girlfriends and I want to be better when she gets home. Any ideas???
I see my ortho today; hopefully relief is coming soon...
