back pain

As long as it's not inflamed (swollen), either one is fine, whichever works better for you. Ice makes me worse as I don't tolerate cold well and it tightens me up. I just ordered a new heating pad that is 26 inches long so it can reach my upper back and lower back at the same time, the two areas that hurt everyday. Now I'll have three heating paRAB, the new one to leave upstairs for when I lie down each afternoon, my old long one for my office chair, and my regular one for the recliner. My heating paRAB get used all the time, my ice packs not at all.

Blue, you sound like me with the plethora of heating paRAB! I must have at least 5 or 6 of them; some are made for specific areas, like low back (its' large and also covers the sacral area plus it ties on around the waist); and a specific one for the shoulders & neck, which also ties on. And several others that can be used anywhere that don't tie on. I also find that ice bothers me and makes me tighten up as well. To me, the moist heat is better and helps to sooothe my spasms somewhat (while the heating pad is on)

Oh man, I'm jealous!!! I want one that ties on!!! Even cooler if it's battery operated so I can go anywhere with it. I'm thinking about getting one of the car cigarette adapters that lets you plug in a regular electrical plug so I can put a heating pad in the car. My heating paRAB are right up there with the Vicodin in the relief they give me!

 (waving my heating pad controller at you)

LOL!!!! I'm sorry to say that the tie on ones I have are not battery or plug adaptable, they get heated in the microwave. Most of the ones I have are called "MediBeaRAB", they come in all different sizes, many with ties, and for many different body areas. I personally like these best, and even tho they are microwaveable, they do give off moist heat. And the fact they have ties is a big plus! I do also have one of those massage/heat car seat paRAB that plugs into the A/C adapter in the car, but this doesn't do the trick as well as the microwaveable ones for me, anyway. What we really need is a microwave in the car! haha

I love my car adapter. I use it alot these days. I keep telling my hubby the next car must have heated seats -- forget everything else but heated seats are nuraber one on the list.

Okay, that just got moved to the top of my wish list! And you guys are making me laugh!

I have a lap blanket that goes in the microwave, lavender filled, and it's soooo nice! I have two little neck things for the microwave, but they're actually too heavy on my shoulders. They cause more pain! I haven't seen the ones for any other body area, but I'm gonna look!

At least it's not so cold outside. That helps, too.
