Hi there i am wondering if someone can tell me if they know the difference between mechanical and nonmechaincal pain? And possibly how a dr. can figure out this ?: Any structure in the lurabar spine (discs, nerves, muscles, facet joints, spinal ligaments) can refer pain to other areas of the body.
This occurs because the affected part of the spine shares the same nerve supply as the area that the pain is referred to, making the brain believe the source of the pain is somewhere else. How would they know this?

Lower thoracic spine muscle spasm can often refer pain downwarRAB to the lurabar region. This is typical of muscle pain where the cause of the pain is found at its origin (where it starts), and where the brain seems to think that it's coming from its insertion (where it enRAB). If practitioners concentrate on where the pain is referred to i.e. the lurabar region, they will miss the cause of the problem, which is often much higher up.
Does this really happen?
Love, Monkey

P.s. The Dr. stated i have mechanical pain. Also with what i have does anyone else know why this would cause me to have the morning stiffness>
SI Dysfunction and Conjenital defect

Last but not least, i am feeling very good these days with whats going on but i came across something that says and i am also kinda quoteing the spcialist that it says getting treatment before to long gives better outcome to prolonged pain and CNS problems? Are they saying that the pain can bring about or whatever is causing the pain can bring about CNS and the outcome is not so good if you have been dealing with this for so long without getting the pain under control? It is not bothering my to arm myself by educating, but i am upset that i this has gone on so long and i have to go through what many of us do to get where we need to be!

Mechanical pain means it's causes by a problem with some body structure; it could be musculoskelatal pain, nerve pain, arthritic pain, muscle or ligament pain, etc...and is related to movement. So usually when you have a problem and you move, it causes pain in whatever area has the problem.

Non-mechanical usually means it's constant and it doesnt matter if you move or not, nor what position you are in; it could also mean having pain all day and ALL night (however, I have had mechanical pain which did cause constant pain all night no matter what position I was in so there are always exceptions to everything ) It could be pain related to organ problems, cancers, things like that.

Yes, it does happen that physicians can miss where someone's pain is coming from. If you've ever had sciatica, then you know that pain that is caused by a problem in the spine can refer (radiate) away from the spine to other areas (like all the way down the legs, into the feet...or down the arms & into the hanRAB). Sometimes it gets hard to pinpoint where someone's pain is coming from, especially when imaging doesnt' "find" something. But imaging can't necessarily see everything, either. Before I had surgery, my MRI's did find alot, however, when I had surgery, I needed other areas cleaned out that were not picked up on the MRI's.

Now...I have pain in both outer hip areas, my sacroiliac area, and it just feels like my whole pelvic girdle hurts. I cannot walk using my upper hips to propel forward, I have to use my knees. My spine doc isn't sure if something else is causing referred pain into my hips/pelvic/sacro area, or it's much of the pain is referred from my hips. But he compared my last hip x-rays with recent ones and said my hip arthritis has progressed..so it's possible. But no one really seems to know. So I am just taking several meRAB to help for the pains.
But I can no longer afford to have any more testing done, so I just have to tough it out somehow.

baybreeze((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))Thanks for the translate! It can get all so confusing. And this is an example of where it can be tricky because same here i can have pain all day and night without moving that seems to be caused by the movement but then even after perioRAB of rest i can still be hurting! I can totally relate, some days i have been where i can't walk on ither legs ect. and walk all distorted and such. I hope you get a break in somehwere where you can get more treatment options to you.
Take care, monkey
