Relatively sensitive to touch... especially midway. but looking up/down doesnt affect it... worst point of tension is tilting my head to the right but nothing "flares" it perse... it just is uncomfortable in general with very mild sensations of tingling and warmth during normal use, and just out of habit, i go to massage it, and thats when it gets bad.

The muscle/tendon (?) that protrudes from back of head/neck. With the top rising just below the same level as the top of my ear and extends down neck.

as a college student, i am just naturally curious, esp with anatomy so i looked up a picture to help... it would be the muscle on the left hand side of the neck in the bottom-right photo:

Quite an unusual sensation, not one typical to strained muscle (ie hamstring/ bicep etc) that i am used to... so i figured id ask to see if anyone knows anything about it... verify whether or not its just a strained muscle or tendon.
