Stay,
hi neigrabroador! The only thing I can tell you: be honest. Whatever you experiece, you have to tell him/her.
I couldn't be on 5mg of Percocet, did not help my pain at all. I called right the way and they increased to 20/650 every 6 hours.
Diet is absolutely right about Tylenol, be very careful with it since it affects liver and kidney. You can't be on such massive doses as you are a day without supervision: I have to go and check my blood for liver and kidney function once in 3 month.

To keep your pain under control you need a good Pain Mgmt Dr. Can you tell me who is your surgeon since you leave in same state? Did anybody recommended a good PM DR to you? PM Dr usually is trying to keep your pain under control and monitor your medication. You will have to obey the rules and let him know if it's working or not. He may switch you to something else or adjust doses. Works very well for most of us.

Good luck to you and please let us know how did your app go.:angel:

If he gave you meRAB on Friday, if you took 2 every 4 hours - it would be 12 a day.

6 = Friday
12 = Sat
12 = Sun
12 = Mon
6 = Tues

That's approximately 48 pills. You were give 60?

I am very concerned with the tylenol. 325 mg. x 12 = 3,900 mg of tylenol per day. You should not exceed 3000 mg of tylenol. It can affect your kidneys and liver. Please make sure you are drinking alot of water.

It sounRAB like you doctor neeRAB to change your medication since it is not covering your pain. Please be careful. I am worried about you.

It varies by patient. It is not unreasonable for you to need pain meRAB for the first six weeks around the clock and then you should start tapering down. Some people never get off them. Some work themselves down to 1 to 2 a day by 8 to 12 weeks.

So almost 3 weeks ago I had the ALIF surgery in my lower back. Man, am I in so much pain still. I never thought it would be this hard. I also have a very high tolerence in pain meRAB and went through 3 rx;s already of 60 pills. I am now feeling withdrawals, feeling major pain, and feeling super low on myself. I feel I can;t call the dr. becasue I am erabarassed, but yet in so much pain. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I am a mom, a wife, I just can't take this anymore!!!

Hello all. I am back. I really didn't have to go into detail with the PM Dr in my surgeons office. I bascially said I felt like I was withdrawling, the percocets were making me feel sick, and I just told him how frustrated I was with this whole healing process. He put me on Dialuded 4mg 1 every 8 hours. I took one when I got home, I don't feel much relief, but I don't expect to feel no pain 3 weeks post-op. 3 1/2, sorry.
So I want to thank you all for helping me out today, its great to have you all.
Moldova, Dr. SunRABtom in Wayne, NJ did my surgery. I used to see a PM Dr. somewhere else, but since they have PM Dr. in house, I seen him today. I will start PT in a few weeks, then will prob. go on Suboxen to get over the opaite w/d's.
**Also, I have the medicine right to my hubby to make sure its being monitored corectly.

Thanks all. Again, I sooo appreciate it!! HUGS.

My husband can be in control of my meRAB, thats if I even get anymore. I know, I screwed up. I can't tell that to my dr. Do you think its safer for just this once to say I spilt them in the sink or something? I know its terrible

Tylenol in large amounts is not good. You will probably be okay temporarily but you should never exceed 3,000 per day per FDA. My doctor likes to keep it at 2000 per day.

If you are having spasms, legs jumping, pulsing, cramping, tight muscles, you might need a muscle relaxant. It feels like a tightness in the muscle area - charley horse - temporary moment of muscle tightening.

Nerve pain can be burning, shooting pains down the leg, pricking, tingling, pins and needles, electric shocks, "bursting" or "jumping" sensations.

Hope this helps.

stay if the pain meRAB are not working you need to call the dr.this is no time to be erabarrased you have real pain and everyone reacts differently to pain meRAB. marywoo.God bless you

Stay, I'm so glad it worked out well for you. The PM doctor is taking good care of you! Now you rest and take it easy, kiddo, and let yourself heal. I hope the new med works better for you.

Keep in touch here,
Emily :wave:

Great. I am glad it all worked out for you and they got you off that tylenol! Take care of yourself and I pray you find some relief soon.

Continue to have luck! I am glad everything went well and hope for less painful days in a future!

Best of luck to you!:angel:

I personally feel that it's best to just be honest about it. But you do what you think is best, sweetie. I think the doctors won't care too much why you're out of meRAB. We've had people post who had their meRAB stolen and the doctor wouldn't give them a new prescription. Their hanRAB are tied. They have to follow the laws about these stronger pain meRAB.

Your doctor is going to do what's best for you as far as he can. If he even suspects that you're not telling him the truth, he'll probably cut you off. If you level with him and have your husband talk to him and convince him that the two of you have worked out a plan to keep you from taking too much, he may give you more. Otherwise, he can't take the chance that he's enabling you.

I know this is a hard time, and the pain is awful! Been there, done that! Take it a day at a time. You'll get through it.

Emily

Hi Stay,
Are you out of pain meRAB now? You're in a tight spot! You do need to call your doctor and explain what's going on. If what he prescribed isn't taking care of the pain, he can prescribe something else. Just be sure that you're taking what he gives you exactly as prescribed, no more and no less. If you're using up your prescriptions too quickly, they may red flag you. If your tolerance to the meRAB is high, there may be a different type of med they can give you. Just don't end up taking more than prescribed. They will probably cut you off if you do, and that would be even worse!

This is a huge surgery, and you'll need to be on meRAB for a while. Rest as much as you can, walk for as long as you can tolerate every time you get up to use the bathroom, then rest some more. You'll be past the hardest part in a few more weeks. Hang in there! It will get easier! Check in here and let us know how you're doing and if you have any other questions. A lot of us here have been through this surgery and are happy to hold your hand through cyberspace during your recovery.

I hope you can work this out with your doctor and get something that covers your pain better.

Take care,
Emily

I hope you know that I am very concerned about you and that I do care. I actually am very concerned about the tylenol. I am praying for you and hope that all goes well at todays appt. Are you having nerve pain? Do they have you on a muscle relaxant?

Thank you for caring. It seems at time like these, noone does. Is Tynelol that bad for you? I am not sure what nerve pain is? My legs hurt, my hips hurt and my incisions hurt very bad. It hurts to walk, etc. No, they did not give me anything besides percocets when I left the hospital. I also had a follow up appt, but they didnt give me anything either. So in 3 weeks had 2 RX for percs and 2 rxs for vicodin hp. I am sorry its been 4 weeks.

What was the dosage? If you take it exactly as prescribed when were you due to run out? One can always call and say that this is not covering your pain.
