I am going back country camping and canoeing . What is the best food to bring along that is low impact and easy to pack?

Dude, foil and zip lock bags are your friends. For breakfast you can take eggs, put them in a zip lock and boil it in water. It make perfect scrambled eggs. You can also wrap some bacon in foil and throw it in the fire for about 10 to 15 mins and have AWSOME bacon. Now for dinner, you can do the same foil trick with potatoes and cook them til they are soft all the way through when you stab them. You can also, and this is my fav, make hambergers, wrap them in foil and throw them in the fire for about 10 to 15 to. They turn out great, but be careful when opening them, as I have burned myself plenty of times by dripping hot grease. best answer?

Depends how long you are going for. if only one night, you can bring fresh foods like some fruit and breads and meat and you if you aren't hiking much you won't have to worry about weight. Hiking on the other hand, you want the most calories for the least weight. Fat is the best option as pure fat has 9 calories per gram, compared to carbs and protein at only 4 calories per gram. Being in the back country you will most likely not want something that will take 30-60 minutes to make, I find any kind of noodle is a good choice. Freeze-dried foods are an option, but are very expensive and some do not taste very good at all. In the end it all comes down to what your tastes are and how much you are willing to bring with you.
