Bachelor of Religious Education?

There's a program for human services and counselling at a bible college I wanted to go to. The information about the program says it is ideal for anyone wanting to work directly into social service positions, as well as service in churches. It says the courses and professional certifications from the degree allow you to work in larger social service settings. Maybe I'm just stupid or gullible, but I think it sounds "legit". I've been to the school a couple times already to check it out. I've asked questions. My mom agrees with whatever I want to do, but she thinks because it's 'religious education' that it isn't a real degree and I won't have a job when I'm done. She keeps warning me that I won't be able to have a government job or whatever and now I'm scared!
Does anyone have any insight or experience to share regarding this? I want to go to a Christian school but I still want a career, too ..

Asked in Religion & Spirituality, because, you know. But there's a lot of trolls there. Maybe someone can answer here, too.
