Babys dad in jail, will I get child support?

My daughter was born in joplin, missouri. And that is where her father is in jail. He was served 3 years..and maybe even get more years with another case he has. I'm living in Arizona with my daughter.

I just filed for child support through DES and they explained they will locate him and then get in contact with me. I just recently sent the chil support agency his current jail address. So surely they will know where he is now.

My only question is.. Will I get child support? Will they make him work inside the jail? Or will the government pay me monthly and then make him pay it back once he gets out?

My dad never paid child support for me, and eventually the goverment started taking it directly out of his paycheck when he had a job.

Does anyone know what will happen once the child support agency finds him in jail.. will the government help me or will they just be like "well hes in jail and theres nothing we can do ,sorry" ??

Well.. Thanks everyone for being "nice" about it. I just wanna defend myself.

1) I do work, full time, I worked my ass off to buy myself a car recently and get my own place. but i still feel as a father he should do his part.

2) its not like i got pregnant with some guy... we were married and i left him because he became abusive later on in the marriage..i was sent to the ER from his last attack and after i left he soon after went to jail.

3) i dont rely on the government but if the government would be willing to help me out with finances and then make him do back pay later on, I would have no guilt in that. i'm doing my part and doing the best that i can.

i wanted answers regarding assistance not my moral decisions. thanks for all of you judging me like im a young girl would got knocked up and isnt working.
cause that is far far far from the truth.
 
No he don't work you and the baby are left with nothing outside of state assistance im sorry but its true when they go to jail they even if they work through the prison system you won't get a dime
 
You will not get child support while he is incarcerated.
He has no means of income, therefore cannot make any payments toward a debt he might owe to a company or person.
 
Well, he's in jail and there's nothing they can do. Sorry.

At the most, he would have back child support to pay when he gets out of jail, but if you are on government assistance then that money will go to the state, not to you.

The purpose of child support is to give the child that same standard of living he would have if the parents were together. Well, if you were still together with this man, he would still be in jail and you would still get nothing-- that doesn't change just because you're not with him. You sound pretty young and ignorant about the world, so let me give you some free advice-- I would suggest, in the future, you try being a little more selective about the guys you allow to get you pregnant.
 
Where are you expecting he's going to get money from? HE'S IN JAIL! Unless he has alot of money in the bank, you ain't gettin nothin.
I hope you weren't serious about the government paying it. That money comes from MY paycheck. Sounds like you need to get a job and stop expecting someone else to support you.
I'm sure you knew what kind of person he was when you got with him, so you shouldn't be expecting much.
