1st Question: What's the best way to remove the axle nut on a 2000 Honda Accord SE? Unlike the other car I have (Toyota Camry), the axle nut on the Honda Accord is not secured with a cotter pin, but rather dimpled in into the axle (not very smart for Honda ). The only thing I could think of is use force to pry it loose. But that would damage the axle nut. Here's a sample picture: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2239971

2nd question: This all becomes necessary because three of the lug nut stubs broke off when I tried to remove the wheels. With the Honda Accord, there is no clearance to re-place the slug stud through the back of the hub. You basically have to remove the hub and re-place the lug nut stud. So my questions is: Am I right that on the 200o Honda Accord, the only way to replace lug nut stubs is to remove the hub, which entails removing the axle nuts?
Thanks.
Thanks guys. I guess we've established the fact that the hub has to be removed. The good news is I was able to un-dimpled/un-pinched the nut rather easily. I used a 1 1/5 inch nail, wedged it between the dimple on nut and the axle, and slowly tap the nail with a hammer. It worked!
